MEET OUR STAFF
Tammie Shelton Executive Director
Ms. Tammie Shelton joined the camp as a volunteer in January 2004, and as the first on-site staff member in March of 2005. She was promoted to Camp Director in August of 2006, and was promoted as Executive Director in 2009. She oversees all aspects of executing the programs and policies of the camp which functions year round. Ms. Shelton is involved in all program and fund development as well. In 2004, Ms. Shelton was honored with a Corpus Christi Caller Times Jefferson Volunteer Award Medallion for her service to the community. Ms. Shelton earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in special physical education, and a Master of Public Administration degree in Nonprofit Management, both from Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi. Ms. Shelton has over 10 years experience creating programs for people with disabilities and over 25 years experience in business.
Betty Adams Administrative Director
Ms. Adams had the privilege of watching the dream of Camp Aranzazu become a reality for the Forney Family and after that joined the camp as a volunteer in early 2005. In February 2007 she joined the camp full-time as their Administrative Director. Most recently she held the position of Human Resource Director for the Houston based construction firm SpawMaxwell Company where she was employed from 1997 to 2007. Ms. Adams relocated from Houston and is excited to be a full time resident of the Rockport-Fulton community. She is an active member of the community and currently serving as Director on the Rockport-Fulton Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. She has served as a Director on the Leadership Aransas County Alumni Association, Leadership Aransas County Steering Committee, and Secretary for the Rockport Fulton Bay Blazers Committee. Ms. Adams is a graduate of Leadership Aransas County Class XLL. She has also volunteered for The Education Foundation Supporting Aransas County ISD, and at Gulf Pointe Plaza skilled nursing facility. Liz Hungerford Camp Director
Ms. Hungerford joined the Camp Aranzazu team in February of 2010. She graduated from Grand Valley State University in December 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Therapeutic Recreation and became a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) in January 2010. Liz has several years leadership experience in residential special needs camping. She is an active volunteer with Rockport Chamber of Commerce Attractions Committee and Driscoll Children's Hospital.
Brandal McCormack Program Manager
Mr. McCormack joined the Camp Aranzazu team as seasonal Program Manager in March of 2011 while completing his course work at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He graduated in May 2011 with a bachelor's degree in Church Recreation and was quickly promoted to full time Program Manager in July of 2011. Brandal has been involved in residential camping for the past to summers at camps in central Texas and Colorado. During his time at Baylor, Brandal worked and volunteered at a camp for children with special needs and was active in Young Life and Phi Kappa Chi. Brandal has quickly acclimated to life in the coastal area and enlivens camp with his own unique sense of humor and energetic outlook on life.
Sandy Ung Program Manager
Ms. Ung joined the Camp Aranzazu team as an Activity Leader during the summer of 2010. She received her certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) in May 2011 and is an active member of the American Therapeutic Recreation Association. In August 2011 Sandy graduated from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelors of Science in Therapeutic Recreation. During her years in the Therapeutic Recreation Program at Grand Valley State, Sandy was involved with various work and volunteering opportunities involving kids with special needs and physical disabilities. Sandy rejoined the Camp Aranzazu team in January 2012 as a Program Manager.
Jennifer Janecek Development Associate
Ms. Janecek joined the Camp Aranzazu team in November 2010 as Development Associate. She comes to the camp with over 10 years non-profit experience in the Coastal Bend and has worked for organizations such as Ronald McDonald House, YWCA, and South Texas Lighthouse for the Blind. She has been involved in numerous fundraising events in the community such as Casa de Amor, Celebrity Waiter, Roam Through Our Home, Heroes for Hearing, Rubber Duck Round-Up, Yuletide Market and several Volunteer/Staff Recognition Banquets. Jennifer has an extensive background in printing and mailings as well as database management, she spent several year with a large print company and text book publishing company before landing in the non-profit world 10 years ago. She is excited to be here at Camp Aranzazu and looks forward to the adventure!
Dean Falck Facilities Manager
Mr. Falck joined the Camp Aranzazu Team in June 2011 as Facilities Manager. Dean has over 30 years of building, construction and maintenance experience, all of which are vital to our being good stewards of our natural and donated resources. Dean moved to Texas from Minnesota, where he owned a construction company and sign & post company and worked for a large school district. Dean is the grounds artist and keeps our 86 acres looking pristine, our buildings maintained, and equipment running. He considers himself a "Texan" now and looks forward to all the opportunities provided by maintaining a fast-growing facility.
