MEET OUR STAFF
Tom Forney President/CEO
Mr. Forney is the founder of Camp Aranzazu. Tom, his wife Holly and their children Muriel and Drake transferred ownership of the property to create the camp in November 2004. He was a founding partner of the Maxwell Company in 1988 and the SpawMaxwell Company in 1998. In December 2004, Mr. Forney assumed an active role managing Camp Aranzazu in addition to serving as General Partner for Gemelos Investments, Inc.; a development and investment partnership with his twin brother. Mr. Forney splits his time between Houston and Rockport. He is involved in a variety of faith based and educational non-profit organizations in both communities. These organizations include Faith in Practice, Aransas County ISD Educational Foundation and West Houston Young Life. In addition, he has served as a volunteer advisor for a variety of non-profit construction projects in the United States and Central America.
Tammie Shelton Camp Director
Ms. Shelton began serving Camp Aranzazu as a volunteer in early 2004, joined the staff in early 2005, and serves as Camp Director. Ms. Shelton received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in special physical education from Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi, and is currently studying for a Master's degree in Non-Profit Management. She volunteers as an instructor and past president for Eels on Wheels Adaptive Scuba Club, a non-profit organization with a mission of teaching the disabled and ill how to scuba dive, which resulted in her being awarded a Corpus Christi Caller Times Jefferson Volunteer Award Medallion. Ms. Shelton has over 10 years experience creating programs for people with disabilities and over 25 years experience in business.
Betty Adams Administrative Director
Ms. Adams began serving Camp Aranzazu in early 2005 as a volunteer, and was one of the Arriba! Room adopters. Ms. Adams joined the staff of Camp Aranzazu in February 2007 as Administrative Director and brings to our team more than twenty five years of administrative experience. Most recently she held the position of Human Resources Director for a leading construction firm in Houston. Ms Adams is responsible for human resources, accounting and insurance. She recently relocated from Houston and is excited to be a full time resident of the Rockport-Fulton community.
Deb Persons Office Manager
Ms. Persons began serving Camp Aranzazu in 2006 as a volunteer. She joined the staff of Camp Aranzazu in January, 2008, as Office Manager after spending twenty eight years in the legal profession. With a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a son who has special needs (who is a Camp Aranzazu camper), Ms. Persons brings to Camp Aranzazu the wonderful gift of knowledge and experience with people with special needs.
Assistant Camp Director
Thomas DeLano Assistant Camp Director
Mr. DeLano joined Camp Aranzazu in 2008 as the Assistant Camp Director. Mr. DeLano holds a Bachelor of Business degree from Oklahoma State University and has 5 years leadership experience in residential camping. He has volunteered for special-needs camping partner groups for many years. Mr. DeLano is responsible for developing and implementing programs for our special campers. He also recruits new partner groups, and has made it his goal to take a proactive role in helping Camp Aranzazu grow to its full potential.
